Concerts with recorder and Lautenwerk with Vicki Boeckman and Tamara Friedman

Friday, November 18 at 7:00 pm, at the Croatian Cultural Center, 801 5th Street, Anacortes
Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 pm, at Queen Anne Christian Church, 1316 3rd Ave W, Seattle

One of the last concerts I [Vicki] played before everything shut down in March of 2020 was an all-Bach program with Tamara Friedman on a reconstructed 1740 Lautenwerk.  A Lautenwerk is a gut-strung harpsichord, sonorously beguiling and intriguing, like a large lute played with 10 fingers!  We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play together again, this time bringing you works not only by ‘Papa’ Johann Sebastian Bach, but also by one of his most celebrated sons, Carl Philipp Emmanuel.  Of special interest to recorder players will be an unaccompanied suite by Matthias Maute written in the Baroque style.  For those of you who have played pieces by Matthias, you will recognize some of his signature idiomatic gestures, which fit well with the wit and humor of CPE Bach.
